April Recap

April NBA events bring exciting events to come!

Somethings make it really feel like we are back in the swing of things. April’s events happened to be that way (for me).

MHBA Homebrew Fest

A number of members brewed a mini-single hop experiment which we hoped to pour at the Social Science Fermentational Informational. Seeing as clearance for that fell through, we thought, “We have beer… let’s crash another clubs party”. It was a fantastic event, and are very thankful to the MHBA for letting us show up and meet a lot of really awesome home brewers! We even got a few new members. Check out the summary on the MHBA site

Science Museum – Social Science: Fermentational Informational

Aaron De Boer, Aaron Hamann, Perrin Bishop-Wright and Brian Kane all represented the NBA by talking to attendees about hops. Along with sharing our knowledge, we had our awesome poster full of hop facts (Thank you Tyler Bye), and had about a dozen hop varieties for people to enjoy the scent (or taste if they dared!).

Speaking of Mini-Experiments…

2015 Wood Aging Experiment!

Tyler Bye coordinated and donated BlackSwan Cooperage  HONEY COMB Barrel Alternative wood types for people to experiment with. We had 4 Beers aged with 4 different types of wood. We sampled a White Ash Kolsch, A Yellow Birch IPA, A Sassafras Sasion and a Hard Maple English Ale.  You can read all about it at the following link.
