October Education Topic: Dangerous Man taproom

EDIT 10/18/2023

Tonight is the monthly meeting and there is a SLIGHT CHANGE OF PLANS. The education topic fell through, so we are going to pivot to visit Dangerous Man Brewing Co instead. Meet up at ESNS for the meeting and club business from 7pm to ~8pm and then we will head down a few blocks to have some pints.

Brewers of all levels are welcome to join any NBA events and meetings before becoming a member, so come hang out, share some homebrew (if you have it; there is always more than enough), and learn about this interesting beverage!

Cheers!

Some magic goes into turning honey into mead. That is the topic of this month’s education topic: mead making! All are welcome to join at East Side Neighborhood on Thu Oct 19 7-9pm to learn about this tasty beverage — along with some club business, of course.

September Education: Thiolized Yeast and Hop Combinations

What is a thiol and how does it affect your homebrew? Next week the education topic for the monthly meeting will discuss this topic with modern yeast and hop combinations. Expect to taste some wonderful examples and to learn some new techniques!

Swing by East Side Neighborhood Services on Thursday, September 21 from 7:00-9:00 PM to go over some club business and chat about the thiol topics. Brewers of all skill levels — aspirational to blue ribbon — are welcome to join!

See you there! Cheers!

August Education Topic: BJCP Score Sheets

The education topic for our monthly meeting focuses on the BJCP score sheet and how to approach tasting beer. Swing by East Side Neighborhood Services on Thu Aug 17 7-9pm for the the meeting agenda and education.

If weather is favorable, we will meet in the pavilion behind the parking lot.
EDIT 8/17: The meeting will be INSIDE at ESNS.

Brewers, experienced and aspirational, are welcome to join any NBA event any time. Swing by and see what we are about!

See you there! Cheers!

July Education Topic: Analytical Chemistry Flavor Analysis and Methods

The education topic at our monthly meeting next week is on Analytical Chemistry Flavor Analysis and Methods. If that sounds like a mouthful, you should taste our beers! Everyone is welcome to join the meeting on Thu Jul 20 7-9pm.

If weather permits, we will MEET IN THE PAVILION BEHIND THE ESNS PARKING LOT to savor wonderful summer weather.

Club meetings and events are open to everyone! Brewers of all level — aspirational, beginner, and advanced — can all benefit from our meetings. If you have some homebrew, bring some to share and get feedback. If you are not sure where to even get started, chat with experienced brewers or join a brew day to see the process in-person. Please come to anything on the club calendar and meet up. Everyone is welcome!

See you there! Cheers!

June Education Topic: Bière de Garde

A romantic name for a French beer. It means “beer for keeping.” It is the first thing every article says. Keeping for what?

Go to your big box liquor store and ask for one. I did, and was told how hard it is to find before being given the names of a couple other stores that, on rare occasions, stocked the style. Search your local breweries and among endless IPAs, hazy IPAs, cold IPAs, and throw-back west coast IPAs, you will be hard pressed to find Bière de Garde.

If you do, how do you know it is Bière de Garde?

Is it blond, ambree, or brune?

Does it have yeasty, vinous, or corky characteristics?

Like all things French, there is the allure of mystery.

Intrigued? You should be. Let it all be revealed in tantalizing detail.

Join Nordeast Brewers Alliance on Thursday the 15th of June in the Pavilion. There will be 7-10 Bière de Gardes to sample while we, your humble brewers, slowly reveal the mystery that is French Bière de Garde.

If weather permits, we will likely be in the pavilion behind the ESNS building.

Cheers!

May Education Topic: Brewhouse Aids

There are some tricks and additions to brew day that can make the process easier and create better beers in your glass. The education topic this month will explore a few of the things that you can do.

Stop by East Side Neighborhood Services on Thu May 18 7-9pm to chat about Brewhouse Aids and maybe learn something to improve your next brew day!

Brewers of all experience levels from curious to master are welcome to join any of the club events! Check out the calendar at NordeastBrewersAlliance.org and stop by one of the many events we have going on before becoming a member.

Cheers!
